Shutting Down the Export-Import Bank in 3 Years

Argument in favor

The Export-Import Bank is nothing more than taxpayer-backed corporate welfare. Export subsidies — like those provided by the Ex-Im Bank — don’t create jobs, and only fuel an international subsidy bidding war.

Welfare is welfare, if anything welfare for the business is worse than welfare for the poor

Corporate welfare is ruining our economy. Corporations should be allowed to fail with the rest of unsuccessful businesses. Also, the US often gets the short end of the stick thanks to Export-Import Bank.

Why should we pay for products other countries are buying?

Argument opposed

With many of our economic competitors subsidizing their exports, failing to follow suit through the Ex-Im Bank would cost the U.S. jobs and hit small businesses the hardest. In uncertain economic times, those are consequences we can’t afford.

I hate to admit it but if President Roosevelt thought it was a good idea, then we should keep it. He and his staff made few mistakes for the people of the U.S.

We have already seen the damage that not approving of the EX-IM bank has had on companies who are moving operations to other countries already. It helps keep American jobs by providing companies with much needed assistance and relief.
