This is a good way to encourage donations to the families of the fallen NYPD detectives, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, to be made as soon as possible. It also rewards those people for their support.

December 2014 was not enough time for some people to donate. Extending the time to April 15th, 2015 makes sense.

Yes, but for future references legislation should drafted that will fix the boundaries for such events in order to provide a uniform code of tax deductible applications.
Argument opposed
While this may encourage more people to help the fallen detectives families, there’s plenty of other fallen police officers, firefighters, and soldiers whose families won’t benefit from this legislation.

Why is the Congress of the United States micromanaging tax deductions? If it's going to apply to two individuals, let it apply to all cops who fall in the line of duty.

One million in donations is plenty. I think more donations should be taxable.

I don't think it'd hurt anything to extend the time for donations.
If you want to cut money quit funding senseless wars. Quit sending troops overseas to protect our oil interest. Instead bring the troops back home in turn saving money while also transform the the U.S. into a country that uses ethanol and methanol as our primary fuel sources. Also abolish the Federal Reserve which exponentially grows our debt each year. The Federal Reserve is constitutionally illegal anyway. The government was meant to creat money themselves not contract that job out to an corrupt company such as the Federal Reserve. Please help your country and not overlook what you know is wrong.
A tax deductible donation is not a true donation in the first place... Just make other tax payers refund a person for their "donation"
All donations should be tax deductible. Why is there a time limit?
The families of the two slain detectives need all the help they can get now that the main wage-earners are absent from their families. The least we can do is extend the deadline for tax-deductible contributions to their families.
Donations to families of first responders killed in the line of duty should not be limited; however, why is this specific to these two NYPD detectives? This is a tax code issue.
