Creating an International Fund to Help the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process

Argument in favor

Setting up an international fund to finance programs for furthering the Israeli-Palestinian peace process will help foster an agreement.

I would simply reduce the amount of aid we send Israel directly by the $50 million. Seems like a much better use of money!!

Let's throw Israel's aid towards peace, then they won't need the aid.

This is a lot of money, but if our ally, Israel, makes peace with its neighbor, then we won't have to spend so much money on their war. If peace happens, we save money in the long run, and in any case I'd rather fund peace than war.

Argument opposed

It seems unlikely that the U.S. throwing $50 million per year at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is going to lead to any lasting peace.

I believe that if all international support should be withdrawn from both sides- Israeli and Palestinian. As long as cash is offered, Abbas will keep accepting the cash for his crime syndicate. There are very few jobs in the Gaza except tunnel building or rocket assembly. ISREAL has made multiple offers for peace but all those millions from international support just muddied the water. Keeping in mind that Palestine's neighbors, Iran and Syria support the destruction of ISREAL, the only democratic government in the Middle East.

Throwing money towards this issue will not AND has not made any significant difference to the relation between these two groups.

BeBe has to accept some responsibility and show willingness to make peace with the Palestinians. Until then, the US throwing money at the problem will just line BeBe's pockets.

We need to make peace between Israel and Palestine, meaning a two state solution, creating a Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital (this is NOT traditional Jewish land), and all the Middle East must recognize Israel as a state.

I really doubt that pouring money into the "peace process" will do any good! The animosity between the Jews and Palestinians has extremely deep roots. I sympathize with BOTH sides, but I feel that America can't afford to chip in to a special fund in hopes of bringing about a peaceful resolution to this longstanding conflict. It's kinda like Harry Potter and Voldemort - neither one can live while the other one survives. Such a situation is like a black hole that would suck in every dollar you spend without any positive results, IMHO.

This is a complete farce. No amount of money in the world is going to prevent Palestine and Israel from being mortal enemies.

We have invested more time, money and energy in Israel then we have in Detroit, Flint or any other problematic situation in which AMERICAN CITIZENS are directly involved with absolutely no positive outcome! STOP THIS NOW! If they want to kill every living human in the Middle East who isn't Jewish, let them! And let them live with the consequences! Religious fanaticism on both sides serves no one. The US will NEVER be able to diffuse the rancor so we need to butt out & treat them like grown-ups. If The Arabs bomb them into oblivion, so be it! They are spoiled children whose bad behavior we enable. I am sick to death of hearing them whine while behaving like barbarians!

Palestinian Pease is an oxymoron. The Palestinians do not want pease. They want Israel to go away (period).

Divert funds from the IDF to help negotiate a peace agreement that will further reduce the needs of the IDF.

I find it hard to believe that $50 million per year will even begin to solve this foreign problem. I support Israel, just not with tax dollars.

Palestinian leadership does not demonstrate a desire for peace. Throwing American tax payer dollars at it will do nothing.

Israel is fully capable of handling their own issues. If the USA were threatened by an existential threat like Israel is... then we would not 'do business' with lunatics' either. Let's put it this way... You demand that I give free reign in my home to someone that has vowed to kill me, and has tried more times than I can count. You demand that I pay them, and take care of them. You demand that I cannot correct or discipline even the slightest discipline problems. Then, you demand that I do this cheerfully, and give them ownership of much of my house. This is insanity at the extreme. Now you want to FUND this activity?!?! The only answer is NO!!!

There will be no peace in that region until the Palestinian's lay down their weapons. Until that happens, any money spent is just money wasted.
