Saudi Arabia’s nuclear ambitions are well-known and documented. Given this, it’s important to ensure that nuclear technology transferred by U.S. companies to the Kingdom isn’t used to build nuclear weapons. Congressional oversight of potential nuclear technology transfers to Saudi Arabia will help in this regard.

How many condos did Trump and Kushner “sell” to the Saudi’s at inflated prices did it take to do this deal without Congressional approval? The corruption in this administration boggles the mind.

Too much risk the Saudis will fail to guard it well enough and the proliferation of nuclear technologies will make the Middle East far worse.

Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry has already stated that its nuclear program is only pursuing civil uses. While Saudi Arabia’s crown prince has stated that the country would pursue nuclear weapons if Iran were to acquire them, that hasn’t come to pass — so there’s no immediate risk that Saudi Arabia will seek nuclear weapons.

Absolutely NOT! They savagely executed Jamal Khashoggi in cold blood. We should be holding them accountable on the highest level. Not rewarding their barbaric inhumane behavior by selling them the means to annihilate us.

This is the stupidest question I've seen so far on this app. The Armed Services committee is already required to approve all weapons and related technology transfers to foreign countries. Saudi would most likely buy it from Russia anyway not the US.

Yes and Congress should immediately reject any request! The United States should not be selling nuclear technology to one of the most oppressive states on the planet and a major destabilizing force in the Middle East. Also, Congress should always have to approve the sale of nuclear technology to any nation.
Why just nuclear weapons and why just to Saudi Arabia? Congress should have to approve all arms sales, conventional and nuclear, to any country. Checks and balances, and transparency.

I’m in support of and recommend the passage of the House Bill H.R. 1471 AKA the “Saudi Nuclear Nonproliferation Act of 2019” which would require affirmative congressional approval of any potential formal nuclear trade deal with Saudi Arabia, as outlined under Section 123 of the Atomic Energy Act.
This bill would also clarify that Congress believes that no Section 123 agreement with Saudi Arabia should be approved until:
1) the Kingdom commits to forego any uranium enrichment of spent fuel reprocessing activities within its territory;
2) the Kingdom agrees to implement the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Additional Protocol.
We should NOT combine “NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION” and the death of U.S. journalist Jamal Khashoggi, as they are two separate and distinct, issues.

We ELECT our lawmakers to make decisions about policy, war, and laws. Selling nuclear technology which can be used against us or start a nuclear conflagration should not be the decision of UNELECTED people or of the president.
Selling nuclear weapon technology to anyone is anti-nonproliferation.

Absolutely. Congress must have to approve sales of nuclear ideas, tech, materials, methods, equipment, etc to Saudis. Absolutely congress must be in charge of this. Now! Make it so.
Nuclear weapons will help no one ever. We can’t even dispose of the unused ones safely. It remains to poison us long past its threat or solution
