It is far past time to update the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.This bill includes many long sought fixes to oversights in the original law as well as updates several standards and penalties. Those workers that are employed by local or state government deserve the same protections as those in the private sector. Penalties employers face for not complying with the law and put their workers at risk need to be higher in order to be both the preventative and the penalty needed to deter or punish those employers.
