Liberals and Dems really show their true colors when they won’t support something— that has broad bi-partisan support to help our children gain the skills needed to compete in a ever-changing workforce — because of their hate of Trump and this administration. The bill is either good or bad on its merits. It should NEVER matter from where the bill originated or who brought a bill to the floor that matters, but what problem would the legislation solve! Stop putting politics above what would be a good bill, or find the flaws in a bill and educate the rest of us. Your hate is obvious and is the very reason why Trump an this administration was elected. You are no better than the politicians you support who only care about getting re-elected. You are the very foundation that supports the Swamp.

Argument opposed

While there is a serious shortage of qualified computer science professionals in the U.S. and public-private partnerships could help the situation, Congress calling it a good idea is less meaningful than actually making them a reality.

I am worried about private funding for computer science. While I love the idea of private business helping public schools, there is great harm when it is used to influence and brain wash. Koch industries has spent a fortune getting on university boards throughout the country with the caveat that they get to select professors. To hire professors that do not believe in climate change is the motive. Undereducated students fall in line when they vote to help forward Koch's agenda and business opportunity. This is not good!

No! Give adequate funding for public schools to provide this training/ education & keep corporations out of it. And, get the funding from cutting corporate/wealthy persons welfare programs. Get it from the trump RICO!

    Under this Administration and Congress their intent could mean anything. Public or any school needs all the support they can get but I don’t trust anything this Administration or Congress proposes. So no unless there are no strings attached. Let the educator manage student education not politicians!

    The current administration is doing everything possible to destroy the public education system in the US. I find this unforgivable. Our public system is in place to give every child as level a playing field as possible. It needs to remain out of the hands of private investors

    No. I’m opposed to anything that remotely tries to work private business into public education. Education should not be treated as a business venture, the future of our country through well educated students is too important to take risks on by privatizing and treating it as a structure of a business. Fund public education adequately and allow them to provide these services as a fundamental part of education rather than lobby our future out to private companies.

    I don’t want corporations having decision making power in our schools. As a student, I know schools barely listen to students as is. Allowing private companies to have sway would make that even worse

    No. We should adequately fund education to fulfill the needs of the private sector. Paying for qualified teachers and respecting the profession benefits us all. I get that it doesn’t make an instant profit, so it’s difficult to want to fund, but maybe life isn’t really about profits, maybe it should be more about doing the right thing for each other and our posterity.

    No, absolutely not! Betsy DeVos was the worst choice possible & hates public education. I don’t want Schools privatized! It’s just another way for the “partnerships” & all involved to make $$$. Fund public schools a lot more (since she’s cutting back) and offer computer training in ALL public schools.

    By all means “YES”. It the way of the future for all, particularly children, to become computer illiterate to be successful in life. Starting at an early age in school, and progressively advancing their skill set to graduation, will prepare them for life’s challenges.
