I own a purebred dog, and I appreciate the sentiment, but PLEASE DON'T TAKE UP CONGRESS' TIME WITH FEEL-GOOD FLUFF MEASURES SUCH AS THIS! Congress has way more important things that they should be addressing!

Dogs, we love them. Purebred or mutts we love them all. I have one of each but seriously? Let's move on.

Pure drivel! My goodness, our government comes up w/all sorts of different ways to waste time and money. Imagine if they put 1/4 of their energy actually trying to solve important issues? Quit playing w/your belly buttons and get to work. We would sincerely appreciate it.

If anything, there should be a day of saving the shelter dog or cat.

This is as absurd as having a pure human bloodline day. Mixed breeds are more often a much better animal as there is no inbreeding to contend with. Inbreeding causes many ailments that purebred dogs inherit. Weak backs, poor joints, chronic ear infections and the list goes on. I love all animals. We should have a National Animal Appreciation Day for all that animals do for us - including those that reluctantly give up their lives for people who still insist on eating them.
