What's Congress Voting On? Week of June 5, 2017

Congress is returning from its weeklong Memorial Day recess to a busy schedule, with votes on international affairs and overhauling the nation's financial industry regulations on the docket.

The Senate will lead things off on Monday with a vote on a resolution commemorating the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem's reunification, which also reiterates the longstanding U.S. policy that the city's final status is to be determined by Israelis and Palestinians. On Tuesday, it will vote to confirm Courtney Elwood to be the CIA's general counsel. The Senate's schedule for the remainder of the week is yet to be announced.

The House convenes on Tuesday, voting on bills to provide relief to Iraqis and Syrians who've been the targets of genocide, reauthorize career and technical education programs, and condemn the terror attack in Manchester and the violence at the Turkish embassy in Washington D.C. The rest of the week will bring a vote on the Financial CHOICE Act — a sweeping overhaul of financial industry regulations created under Dodd-Frank — and a bill to exempt certain law enforcement and current or former military personnel from polygraph tests when applying for jobs with Customs and Border Protection.
