The U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that it will run out of food for over 1.4 million people in Chad due to a shortage of funds that it blames on lack of international interest. The U.N. said it needs over $185 million for its aid efforts.

After agreeing on joint measures to address climate change, leaders of the U.S. and China will not be attending COP28, the U.N.'s climate summit taking place in Dubai on Thursday. U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping were expected to agree to new pledges to fight climate change at the summit.

U.N. says world headed toward 'hellish' warming
U.N. climate scientists declared that this year has been the hottest on record, and the Earth is now heading toward a "hellish" 3-degree increase if action is not taken. Previously, many countries agreed to remain below 1.5 degrees of warming above pre-industrial levels — half of what scientists are seeing today.
