How To Celebrate the LGBTQIA+ Community This Pride Month
Do you care about LGBTQIA+ issues? Be sure to vote!
Pride Month is celebrated each June as a way for LGBTQIA+ communities and their allies to celebrate the freedom to be themselves and commemorate the ongoing fight for equal rights.
The significance of Pride Month
- Pride Month is an important celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community's achievements while promoting visibility, equality, and acceptance.
- The month originated from the Stonewall Riots that took place in June 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, an infamous gay bar in New York City. The protestors demanded the Inn stay a safe establishment for queer people to exist and express themselves without fear of arrest.
- Pride Month serves as a platform for LGBTQIA+ voices and stories, helping raise awareness about the community's diverse experiences, struggles, and accomplishments. It also offers and opportunity to advocate for equal rights for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and spark conversations about legal, social and political issues they face.
- Pride Month started in the U.S., but has since become an international celebration, servicing LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide.

How to be a better ally
Allies to the LGBTQIA+ community are frequently welcomed by advocacy leaders to celebrate the month. Pride is an event held by and for LGBTQIA+ people, so allies are encouraged to participate respectfully and responsibly.
- Learn about the history of Pride Month, how it came to be, and the struggles along the way.
- Be aware of the space designated for LGBTQIA+ people and the importance of having spaces solely for marginalized communities.

That's a no.
Oh, here's the the high holy month of "pride month" again.
Yeah, naw.
I'm still celebrating indigenous peoples month. I'm skipping queer month this year
I support family members and friends that are part of this community. Most have shared that it's not a choice they've made but something they are born with and struggle to come to terms with, accept themselves and take "pride" in who they are, and live productive lives.
LGBTQ people are under attack across this country, and every word against them just adds fuel to the fire.
This year for Pride Month, we need everybody to do the following:
1. Respect that every person is human and deserves dignity and the freedom to live authentically in their own identity and love who and how they love.
2. Choose words carefully to show your respect for each human.
3. Stop saying things that "otherize" LGBTQ people or paint them as abnormal, flawed, or lesser.
4. Demand equal rights to healthcare, housing, employment, voting, restrooms, and athletics for all humans, no matter how they identify or who they love.
5. Refrain from judging human beings for how they dress, the pronouns they use, and how they experience sexuality.
6. Remember that your religious beliefs do not apply to everyone else and should not be used to restrict, regulate, or punish anyone else.
7. Call on your government and federal leaders to ensure that LGBTQ people are able to experience the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness guaranteed to ALL Americans.
I hope everyone in our fine country can practice these this month and every month.
Republicans party doesn't care about true or honesty. As Chuck Grassley and James Comer said don't care about true on their witch hunts or really "Vice President Biden"? Should be president Biden
What makes me NOT support a "PRIDE" month is that I am being asked to support cultural issues. Do we have or WILL we also have a "support TRADITIONAL HETEROSEXUALS" month? I have family members and friends who are gay. They are and will remain very dear to me. I don't need to be nor do I want to be bombarded with "PRIDE" month. Perhaps we need to rethink "PRIDE" month to mean pride in our country, pride in our diversity, pride in our freedoms, or pride in being the greatest country on earth.
