Are You Ready to End Unnecessary Plastic Packaging?
Are you ready for alternate packaging options?
The problem with food packaging
- Plastic packaging is a wasteful part of the food industry, used to wrap and protect and market food and products of all kinds. Plastics have made their way to all corners of our planet — and only around 9% of it is recycled.
- In 2018, the EPA estimated that the plastic industry generated 14.5 million tons of containers and packaging. In the decades that plastic packaging has existed, 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic have made their way into our oceans — which is 8.3 million tons yearly.
- Experts predict that without significant change, the amount of plastic generated worldwide could double by 2040. It’s time for profound change. By being aware of the problem, you can be a part of the solution.
- Here are five examples of packaging done right.
Asian supermarkets and vendors started using banana leaves to protect their produce. Produce protecting produce.
Another innovative and sustainable banana leaf use…
If only nature had its own way of protecting oranges…Maybe a bio-degradable, peelable skin of sorts.
Creating a bag for a single potato seems excessive, to say the least.
Don’t worry, Coke drinkers; the cans holding your beverage are safely secure in wasteful, polluting, unrecyclable, totally efficient plastic materials.
