Absolutely I support mask mandates in schools, especially for those kids under 12 who can’t be vaccinated. Along with being vaccinated, social distancing and washing hands, wearing face masks constitutes the “gold” standard of science tested, CDC encouraged, common sense methods to mitigate this awful pandemic. We can already see their vital importance in schools where the Covid infection rate has increased significantly in the past month when masks are not required or used. For those who argue “personal freedom” trumps face masks, I only ask them to consider the community’s freedom to remain healthy and live, because clearly not wearing face masks affects us all.

It’s my understanding that masks don’t really work and I think it causes more harm than good. We as parents should make that decision to have our children wear masks or not!!

My niece just called last night to tell me we son’s school notified her of a COVID outbreak. Sens. Murray and Cantwell and Rep Smith, Renton School District does not offer remote option. My niece, who feels uncomfortable about sending her 6 year old back to school, was told he would be counted as absent. We are living in a pandemic. Surely districts in OUR state (we were the first to be severely impacted by COVID) should have a better Plan B. It appears as though children are more susceptible to the Delta variant. Why are risking the health of our children after a COVID outbreak at their school? Why aren’t we being proactive and at the very least, taking temperatures before kids & staff enter school. I am also sending this message to Gov Inslee.

Masking vs. allowing kids to get sick/die. The choice is easy. Wear masks.

If masks don’t work, why do doctors and nurses wear them? Would you want a surgeon operating on you maskless?

If you don’t want to wear a mask then don’t and suffer with what comes next. It’s sad how so many Republicans don’t care about kids.

Masks in schools is important. My son’s district leaves it up to the students. Anyone ever hear of peer pressure? The COVID cases are going up in the district; hasn’t the Pandemic already taken enough from the students? Mask up so they can stay in school

I support Newsome and I absolutely support mask mandates. COVID cases among children are skyrocketing, the disease has already mutated. This isn't rocket science, the numbers are there if anyone cares to look at them. The simple truth is if you are not vaccinated and not wearing a mask you are a threat to the lives of others and I don't see that as a personal decision.

Its so embarrassing that so many people in this country have such a juvenile reaction to mask mandates. They claim masks are trampling their freedoms. These ridiculous folks have no idea what having freedoms trampled is really like. They showed up to a school with zip ties to make a citizens arrest of a principle. They fill their kids ears with brainless ignorance so they can be as silly about masks as they are. Republicans knowingly enhance anti-maskers and vaxers messaging with lies and even stupider statements. I’m exhausted from being so angry these last five years. We are in trouble, and ignorant, self-centered folks are the biggest threat to our recovery. I blame the Trump/Republican nonstop barrage of b.s. for loosening peoples ability to think critically, or even rationally.

Bigots want Newsom because they can’t tolerate the chance of a Republican in charge. And they are racist, by their own rules, for choosing a white man over a black one. And tyrants and authoritarians would rather traumatize children then to let their faces show, despite the fact that they are the least likely to contract the virus.
