Welcome to Friday, June 25th, waxing and waning moons...
As you awake and read this, search-and-rescue operations are continuing at the apartment building that collapsed yesterday in Surfside.
Miami-Dade County authorities are currently investigating the Champlain Towers South Condo devastation, though an official cause behind the collapse has yet to be determined. The complex, built in 1981, was in the process of a 40-year safety recertification inspection.
President Biden has approved an emergency declaration.
"The President's action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts," the White House said early Friday.
Biden & Bipartisan Lawmakers Announce Infrastructure Deal
A group of bipartisan lawmakers met with President Biden at the White House on Thursday and announced that they reached a deal on a $579 billion bipartisan infrastructure framework that they hope will have the support of both Democratic and Republican lawmakers.
Biden endorsed the plan at a White House press conference, where he was flanked by the group of 10 centrist senators who originally developed the package. The broader group of 20 bipartisan senators, which is also evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, offered the following joint statement on the compromise:
“Today, we’re proud to advance this bipartisan proposal to make a historic investment in America’s critical infrastructure needs, advance cleaner technologies, create jobs, and strengthen American competitiveness, without raising taxes. This agreement shows that the two parties can still come together, find common ground, and get things done that matter to everyday Americans."

On this date in 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 8802, which forbade racial and religious discrimination in war industries, government training programs, and government industries.

I don’t think the infrastructure bill will help collapsing condo’s in Florida. Better building codes are needed in all our different locations where hi rise buildings are built. Our earth is becoming unstable do to climate change. No large sized building should be ignored. Major inspections need to be done every 5 years. Buildings should not be built so tall. 10 stories is high enough.
I fully support the compromise package! Good job Senator Portman!
My heart goes out to the people trapped inside the Miami condominium and their friends & families. Sending good intentions and prayers for strength to all the rescue personnel. Morbidly ironic that the collapse happened during Congressional negotiations on the topic of infrastructure. It’s a sign.
Infrastructure Bill: Most likley this bill isn't going anywhere. As Pelosi says, "There ain't gonna be no bipartisan bill unless we are going to have the reconciliation bill." The Democrats call the Republicans the party of "no", when in fact the reality is that the Democrats are the party of "my way or no way."
To my legislators: The US military chief should be removed for endorsing Critical Race Theory, which is to teach those who are white that they are the oppressors and those of color are those oppressed. It’s racism and it’s based on Marxism. I support teaching our history (the good and the bad). However, General Milley to assume the attack on the Capitol was due to white rage is complete conspiracy and far-left ideologies. Even if they can link a handful to white nationalist groups majority were there because of the sudden election laws that changed due to Covid and lack of confidence in our elections. General Milley should be removed as his partisan ideological theories is a threat to our military and weakens us as a nation.
Since I have a masters degree in strategic planning for critical infrastructures I definitely support this
And there you have it. Our post WW2 infrastructure is crumbling and people are dying.
We must work together as one. ‘Republican and Democrat rebuilding infrastructure and not diverting the money to fail projects like the green deal. Released a 4 billion to complete the Border wall . Stop illegals from entering the United States. And if you want to come to United States do it the legal way apply for your citizenship at American Embassy in your country.
I would like to see how much of the money will go into infrastructure? Also, where will the rest of the money/funds go too?? Which special interest groups will be receiving this money? Is the money going to another country to fund abortions? These are the questions we need to ask Ladies and Gentlemen. Btw, that building that collapsed didn’t look like an accident. It seemed like the building was set for a controlled demo explosive. It reminded me when old hotels in Vegas were being torn by using demo explosives or when the twin towers fell down.Just food for thought. My condolences to the families for their loss during this tragedy. This needs to be investigated throughly!
