Benjamin Netanyahu Ousted As Israeli Prime Minister
How do you feel about Israel's new government?
What's the story?
- Benjamin Netanyahu, who served as Israel's prime minister for a record 12 years, has been forced out after a power-sharing government - led by nationalist Naftali Bennett - survived a confidence vote on Sunday.
- Bennet was appointed by the Knesset, Israel's parliament, in a 60-59 vote, with one abstention.
- "Bibi" Netanyahu's ouster was made possible by an ideologically diverse coalition brought together by the shared belief that Netanyahu needed to go. The new coalition government is made up of eight parties, including the Islamist United Arab List, or Ra'am, the first Arab party to join an Israeli government in five decades.
- Yair Lapid, former finance minister and head of the centrist Yesh Atid party, joined with the right-wing Bennett. Under the coalition agreement, Bennet will serve for two years then Lapid will rotate in for the next two.
- President Joe Biden released a statement congratulating Bennett and the new Israeli government:
"Israel has no better friend than the United States. The bond that unites our people is evidence of our shared values and decades of close cooperation and as we continue to strengthen our partnership, the United States remains unwavering in its support for Israel's security."

It’s way past time.
Bibi is as bad as Fascist Herr Trump. Both face multiple lawsuits from which they will not exit unscathed. It would be ironic if they were both imprisoned. 😆🤣. They could be inmate pen pals 😊. 12 years of Bibi’s lies were enough. As were 4 years of Trump’s. The GOP/Party of Trump continues lying at their own peril. Israel is smarter. They have shaken the filth of Bono from their sandals. God willing the two new administrations can right the wrongs of the EVIL administration’s that preceded them.
I’m glad Israel is reforming their government and getting rid of their corrupt, trouble-making leader. It’s about time!
Don't make no nevermind to me.
Unfortunately there has been so much lying and propaganda and forced opinions around this entire crisis that I couldn’t tell you whether this is good or bad. I know that one group (Palestine / Hammas), have no problem taking innocent lives and setting up bases in innocent territories, preying on the other’s compassion and unwillingness to cross the same moral lines. So if you ask me, one side had morals and honor and the other does not - yet the moral kindness was shat all over and smeared. But Who knows if the info I’m basing this off of is true? Who knows if it’ll be true a year from now? Who know if anything is true anymore?? Time will tell the truth. As with the many lies coming to light recently about Trump. 🤷🏻♀️ Hope the mass amounts of many different flavors of koolaid from around the globe is worth the tummy ache that’s sure to follow. 👀🙄
Bibi started out well But as we all know absolute power corrupts absolutely He turned into something that shames his brother and his family It is truly disgusting that he won’t lose with dignity He’s trump all over again No pride No dignity Just a petty, corrupt child
Netanyahu became the voice of the Settlements. He thought having them back him would keep him in power, but he became their puppet. I know there is always 2 sides to every problem (if not more) but the Settlements acquired a great deal of influence in the Israeli government in a short amount of time, that they became indulgently full of themselves. Many the Settlements have displaced have literally been thrown off their land without fair compensation, respect or even a way to support themselves or their families. A true civilized nation should absolutely have true equal representation for all the peoples who claim a nation as home(we are NOT a true civilized nation, nor have we ever been) and will show that by sharing power amongst all groups. No where can people understand each other when not everyone has a voice.
Two state solution is the only way to stop the killing in this area of the world. Palestine needs recognition as a country.
Wait and see how strong the political agreements hold the ruling government together.
Bye Bye - Be Be, BiBi - Bye Bye. … … … I think the new government has a chance to be transformational for Israel. It is a broad spectrum of coalitions with different outlooks which will require the group to wrestle with, compromise and get agreement on resolutions that will have to be acceptable right leaning, left leaning, conservative, progressive and even Arab leaning groups alike. It will be hard for sure, but if they can keep this coalition together, they will represent a broader cross section of their people and be less able just default to hard-line positions. I am glad to see Democracies beginning to shed their hard-right leaders. Should make the world a better place.
The last PM was awful and I am glad to see him out the door.
The government is very fragmented. This will cause problems.
Let’s hope this guy never has any influence in Israel, ever again!
Netanyahu's lust for and efforts to stay in power and, now, return to power prove beyond any doubt he is unfit. His cravings for power likely go to the essence of corruption charges, as the old saying about power goes. Putting people like him into positions of power creates far more problems than they can solve. The problems that ensue become "proof" only they can solve them. Of course, the willingness of the people to be gaslit plays a considerable part. But as in the US its not possible to fool everyone: "The State of Israel needs to heal from the enormous damage caused by Netanyahu. Netanyahu is not Ben-Gurion. Ben-Gurion was involved in building the country and gathering in the exiles — Netanyahu is busy dismantling society.” "Official" statement of the anti-Netanyahu Black Flag movement Regardless, Israel is in for a rough ride for the next several years. Hope for the best. But Bebe needs to give it a rest.
Netanyahu = Trump. Twin sons of different mothers. Bibi wasn't always that way, but he certainly became that way. Good riddance.
Bennett is already claiming that a return to a nuclear deal with Iran is a bad idea. I cannot imagine why as we sure don't need nuclear arms in the hands of Iran. While I am happy to see Netanyahu go it remains to be seen what the new government will accomplish. Hopefully it will focus on making peace in the region a priority and looking for a solution for it's long standing conflict with Gaza.
I am glad that he is leaving but talk apartheid with you.
I like seeing autocratic regimes tumble and fall. This new regime with 8 factions being represented may do well if they can work together. Hell , we only have 3 parties and they act like entitled petulant children.
Good riddance to the corrupt tRump wannabe Bebe voicing the same protestations of a fraudulent, stolen election to the very end, but unfortunately still remaining in the opposition party as a thorn in the side of good governance. Hopefully the world has witnessed enough injustice and apartheid in Gaza and elsewhere to pressure the new government into good faith efforts to alleviate the suffering and we can be proud to stand with Israel once again.
This is a "wait and see" moment. Ask again in 3-6 months. Depending on what happens now will be the deciding factor. Not going to worry myself over it since we have too much going on in our own country that must be attended to first. At the moment all any of us can do is pray for the best things to happen. Sending positive vibrations to the Middle East.
