West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R) recently announced a plan toĀ offer a $100 financial incentive for residents between the ages of 16 and 35 to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Mountain State wasĀ one of the fastest states in the U.S. in terms of its initial vaccine rollout, butĀ younger residents who have only recently become eligible have been slow to get vaccinated, prompting the governor to move forward with the financial incentive.Ā
Justice said theĀ incentive will be retroactive, so West Virginians in that demographic who were previously vaccinated will also get the payment.
Justice said the state has āvetted this in every way that we possibly can to be assured that we can use our CARES dollars to do exactly just this.ā
He also noted that the state has beenĀ spending about $10 million per month on testing for residents, so if his plan succeeds in getting enough West Virginians vaccinated to reach herd immunity it will save money over time.

Georgia Election Law
Georgia'sĀ Election Integrity Act of 2021Ā has sparked controversy, with detractors calling it an attempt at voter suppression and proponents saying it secures Peach State elections and makes them more accessible.
Biden is among the Democrats who haveĀ likened the election law to the restrictions on voting imposed during the Jim Crow eraĀ and expressed sympathy for some efforts to boycott the state over the law.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed the bill into law and has defended it alongside Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, both of whom have been maligned by former President Donald Trump after they refuted Trump's efforts to cast doubt on election results in the state.
Kemp says the bill āmakes it easy to vote and hard to cheat.ā

Biden's 'American Families Plan'
President Biden used a significant portion of his first joint address to Congress to push for the adoption of a $1.8 trillion āsocial infrastructureā package that his administration has dubbed the āAmerican Families Plan."
For a full list of what's in the bill, click here.
Here's some of what the American Families Plan includes:
- Child Tax Credits: The recent one-year expansions of the child tax credit (CTC) would be extended through 2025 at a cost of $420 billion, or made permanent which would cost an additional $75 billion over the next decade.
- Childcare: The plan would subsidize childcare through a system in which families would pay a portion of their income on a sliding scale, with some funding going to the training of childcare workers. These provisions would cost $225 billion over 10 years.
- Paid Family and Medical Leave: The plan would provide 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave at a cost of $225 billion over 10 years.

We should have salute Lee not pay young people to get vaccinated. The chances of them catching Covid are extremely low based on the available data Since the clinical trials are still to be completed this is an experimental drug and I think we should let the kids just be out in the sunshine playing with their friends Or in their classroom catching up on everything they didnāt get a chance to learn this year

Good points Vivian! I too live in Florida and am new to the state. I agree with your assessment of the governor and I am appalled at the arrogance and irresponsible behavior of DeSantis. He has been ignoring science this past year and now all of a sudden he is on board? Pure political BS. I will continue to wear a mask as the vaccination process is so mismanaged.
States should NOT use unspent COVID relief funds to bribe people. You can help blame Joe and Kamala for some people not wanting to take the vaccine when they told the American people on interviews and debates that they wouldnāt take the vaccine that was developed under the Trumpās administration. They wanted to discredit anything Trump even if it destroys peopleās lives or our country. Would they still have discredited the vaccine if Trump won and they lost....you bet they would have. We have been through a very dark time here in America and we are far from being out of the woods,common sense should dictate that we all do what rids this country and the World of this disease. I live in Florida and the Governor here has consistently defied the Science,he is wheeling his power like a dictator,and he is going unchecked as he does it. I took the vaccine and will get a booster when time and would encourage everyone to do so and if you canāt at least please do what you can to protect YOURSELF and perhaps in doing so you will protect others.
Do whatever needs to be done to get people vaccinated. Go back to the years when it was required by law to have children vaccinated. The never vaxers put everyone at risk. Read the bill and educate yourselves before commenting. Too many people are listening to the talking heads and commenting on what they say. The voter roles need to be cleaned up, people need to produce some type of identification to vote. It seems to me that if you need an ID to buy alcohol, medication, enter a government building you can surely produce an ID to vote....give me a break! Why should we (the tax payer) pay people to get vaccinated? We have already paid for to vaccine, get the vaccine, donāt get the vaccine itās the individuals choice, that is what our country is about. Anytime the government gives an incentive for the people to do something it make people more dependent on the government. This leads to giving up your rights as given to us by the constitution. If you want to give up your rights leave, move to a country where you donāt have any rights.
