What’s the story?
- The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to hold confirmation hearings on the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court this week, which will begin on Monday, October 12th at 9am.
- The first day of the confirmation hearings will be focused on opening statements. Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and senators on the committee will deliver their opening statements before the nominee is introduced.
- Barrett will be introduced by her home state senators, Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), and Professor Patricia O’Hara of Notre Dame Law School.
- After Barrett’s trio of introducers complete their remarks, the nominee will get her first chance to address the committee when she delivers her opening statement.
