Trump Vows to Send ‘Sheriffs’ and ‘Law Enforcement’ to Polling Places on Election Day - Do You Support the Plan?
Do you support sending law enforcement to polling places?
What's the story?
- President Donald Trump has pledged to send law enforcement agents to polling stations on Election Day.
- Trump told Fox News Friday:
"We're going to have sheriffs, and we're going to have law enforcement, and we're going to have, hopefully, US attorneys, and we're going to have everybody and attorney generals (sic)."
- The president has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that voter fraud will undermine this fall's election.
- Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said Sunday that despite Trump's claims to the contrary, the DHS has no plans to send agents to polling stations on November 3rd.
- "That's not what we do at the Department of Homeland Security. ... We have expressed authorities given to us by Congress and this is not one of them," Wolf said.
"This is not a mission for the Department of Homeland Security. ... We don't have any authority to do that at the department."
