Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

TUESDAY
- The Senate Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “Unprecedented Migration at the U.S. Southern Border: What Is Required to Improve Conditions?” featuring testimony from the acting commissioner of Customs & Border Protection & acting inspector general of Homeland Security. 10am
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing titled “Examining Regulatory Frameworks for Digital Currencies and Blockchain”. 10am
- The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing regarding The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. 10:15am
WEDNESDAY
- The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing titled “Next Steps for Positive Train Control Implementation”. 2pm
THURSDAY
- The House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will hold a hearing titled “Colorado’s Roadmap for Clean Energy Action: Lessons From State & Local Leaders”. 9am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to advance the Secure and Protect Act (S. 1494), which would close asylum loopholes and reform rules regarding the detention of migrant children. 10am
