Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

TUESDAY
- The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee will hold a hearing titled “Implementing the 21st Century Cures Act: Making Electronic Health Information Available to Patients and Providers, Part II”. 10am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Intellectual Property and the Price of Prescription Drugs: Balancing Innovation and Competition”. 10am
WEDNESDAY
- The House Judiciary Committee may hold a hearing to vote on holding Attorney General William Barr in contempt. 10am
- The House Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “Confronting the Rise of Domestic Terrorism in the Homeland”. 10am
- The Senate Environment & Public Works Committee will hold an oversight hearing on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Civil Works Program. 10am
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing titled “Paid Family and Medical Leave: Helping Workers and Employers Succeed”. 10am
- The House Administration Committee will hold a hearing on election security. 10am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “At the Breaking Point: The Humanitarian and Security Crisis at our Southern Border”. 2:30pm
- The Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing titled “Fixing a Broken Budget Process: Lessons from States”. 2:30pm
- The Senate Aging Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Older Americans Act: Protecting and Supporting Seniors as they Age”. 2:30pm
THURSDAY
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to advance the nominations of Jeffrey Rosen as Deputy Attorney General, five district court judges, and three law enforcement bills. 10am
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing titled “Understanding the Tax Gap and Taxpayer Noncompliance”. 10am
- The House Science, Space, and Technology Committee will hold a hearing titled “Achieving the Promise of a Diverse STEM Workforce”. 10am
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Trump Administration’s Response to the Drug Crisis, Part II”. 11am
