What's Congress Voting On? Week of January 30, 2017

Congress has a full week in store, with the Senate's continued consideration of President Donald Trump's nominations for his Cabinet likely to draw extra attention ahead of his planned announcement The House will vote on numerous natural resources and homeland security bills Monday and Tuesday before turning toward and overturning Obama administration regulations.

Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson will face a test vote on the Senate floor late Monday, with a confirmation vote possible shortly thereafter if cloture is invoked. Elaine Chao, Trump's pick for Transportation Secretary, will face a confirmation vote on Tuesday. Chao is expected to be confirmed easily, though margins could be tighter on Tuesday when committees vote on the nominations of Sen. Jeff Sessions and Betsy DeVos as attorney general and education secretary, respectively.
