Sign the Petition to

United States Congress

The Trump Administration is potentially breaking the law by covering up a whistleblower complaint about Trump’s reported “promise” to a foreign leader.

Our system relies on checks and balances, and we can’t exercise them through a veil of secrecy. Congress has a right to know the full truth -- and must protect whistleblowers who expose wrongdoing.

A whistleblower from inside the Trump Administration has filed a
complaint against the President -- including a "promise" Trump made in a conversation with a foreign leader, according to multiple press accounts.

What did he promise? Who did he promise it to? We don't know and neither does Congress -- because Trump is abusing his power to cover up what happened. His administration has refused to pass the whistleblower's complaint on to Congress as the law requires.

This is a clear cut abuse of power -- and completely unacceptable in a democracy.

Whistleblowers take on great personal risk to expose wrongdoing by the powerful. They're the only reason countless presidential scandals have made it into public view. That's why we have legal protections for whistleblowers -- which must be followed.

But unfortunately, presidents in both parties have abused their power to silence or retaliate against whistleblowers. It's vitally important that we speak up for transparency right now.

That's why Congress must immediately take action to protect this national security official who was so concerned about Trump's actions that they decided to come forward.

Congress deserves to know what Trump said, who he said it to, and any other details of the complaint. And, they must expand protections that ensure government whistleblowers can't be silenced or retaliated against for speaking the truth.
