Sign the Petition to

U.S. Congress

Attorney General William Barr is doing exactly what Trump hand-picked him to do: deceiving the American public about the Mueller investigation. We the People must remain committed to uncovering the TRUTH.

Congress must fight for transparency and accountability -- by demanding Special Counsel Mueller’s full, unredacted report and holding public hearings with Barr and Mueller themselves.

Signed,

As the nation's top law enforcement official, William Barr is supposed to ensure that nobody -- not even the President -- is above the law. Yet since assuming the position, Barr has acted more like Trump's personal defense lawyer -- misleading Congress and the public time and time again to shield the President from accountability.

When Special Counsel Robert Mueller completed his two-year investigation -- which has already led to 37 indictments or guilty pleas -- Barr should have let Mueller's findings speak for themselves. But instead, he released his own 4-page summary (of a 448-page report that already included summaries ready for public consumption) -- and falsely claimed Trump was exonerated when Mueller pointedly refused to do that.

Last week, we learned just how Mueller reacted to Barr's cover-up. Days after Barr released his summary, Mueller wrote to him that it "did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance" of the report. And, Mueller rightly pointed out that Barr's memo had caused "public confusion" about the investigation's results.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has shut down any attempt at congressional oversight -- refusing to comply with multiple subpoenas and document requests. And at hearings last week, Attorney General Barr dodged many questions that Senators asked him -- then broke decades of precedent by refusing entirely to show up before the House Judiciary Committee after previously agreeing to testify.

The American people deserve nothing less than the highest standard of transparency. Our representatives in Congress must:

  • Continue to demand the full, unredacted Mueller report and underlying evidence;
  • Give Special Counsel Mueller the opportunity to testify before Congress about what he found;
  • Use their powers to compel Attorney General Barr to testify about his handling of the report -- and hold him accountable if he won't.
