Interior Department

We are outraged that your department has blocked and obstructed the publishing of a crucial report about the detrimental impact of pesticides on endangered species. According to the New York Times, the Fish and Wildlife Service, a division of the Interior Department, found that two pesticides, malathion and chlorpyrifos, are so toxic they jeopardize the continued existence of more than 1,200 endangered birds, fish, and other animals. A conclusion that should have led to stricter regulations around their use.

However, the Trump Administration got wind of the bombshell report and dispatched its top officials to silence the report and minimize its impact. As a result, malathion and chlorpyrifos are still in use and no new regulations have been announced. These actions massively benefit major chemical companies, including Dow Chemical and FMC Corporation, who make the two pesticides.

As a result of the Trump Administration's access, more than a thousand species will be placed at continued risk of extinction due to pesticide usage. Our planet can simply not afford the corruption of the Trump Administration. We must protect our endangered species. There is no turning back.

Demand that the Interior Department not only release the full report, but also take actions to protect endangered species from these toxic pesticides.

Signed,

Protect Endangered Species

The Interior Department was preparing to release recommendations that two major pesticides be more strictly regulated because their use was endangering 1,200 endangered species. After massive donations from chemical companies, the Trump Administration intervened to stop the report. Demand action now.
