U.S. Congress

Every eligible voter should be able to make their voice heard at the polls, free from obstruction or intimidation. But without the protections of the Voting Rights Act, voters across the country face discriminatory laws, needless barriers, and partisan dirty tricks every Election Day. As a result, thousands of eligible Americans are denied a fair say in our democracy.

Congress must take a stand for We the People and pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act, restoring the Voting Rights Act’s vital defenses.

Our right to vote is fundamental to our democracy -- but right now, it's in jeopardy.

The Voting Rights Act, one of our nation's proudest civil rights achievements, used to protect us from targeted voter suppression laws. States and counties with a history of discrimination had to pre-approve any changes to their voting rules with the Department of Justice -- which stopped thousands of dangerous provisions from taking effect.

But the Supreme Court gutted that pre-clearance requirement in 2013 -- inviting opportunistic politicians to attack voters' rights, pass new laws that would have never stood up to review, and make it harder for Americans to vote. We've especially seen the impacts of this decision in states like Georgia, where voter suppression efforts plagued the 2018 election.

Congress must use its legislative power to remedy the Supreme Court's decision and pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act -- a new, updated Voting Rights Act that protects every eligible American's right to be heard.

Add your name and demand Congress take a stand for voters.
