U.S. Magistrate Judge Bernardo Velasco

Four women attempted to help migrants crossing the brutal Sonoran desert by leaving jugs of water and food for them to find. However, border patrol arrested the women and charged them with "trespassing in natural refuges." Now, they face up to six months in jail.

These women did nothing wrong except to try to save human lives by helping people who have just crossed a brutal desert on foot find water and resources. While the judge is convicting them on charges of "trespassing", we know this is just an official charge hiding the true intentions of punishing women for trying to treat migrants as human beings.

We must raise our voice in unison to fight for the freedom of these women. We cannot allow the government to prosecute citizens for trying to help migrants.

Signed,
