Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix

Netflix recently removed an episode of Hasan Minhaj's show after the host was critical of Saudi Arabia for its human rights abuses. We are deeply disappointed in Netflix's decision to curb an American's right to free expression because a deeply corrupt and brutal foreign regime pressured them to do so.

Hasan Minhaj courageously spoke out about Saudi Arabia's human rights abuses on his show, The Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. He criticized their murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, their jailing and silencing of critics, and their cruel instigation and perpetuation of the war in Yemen. Saudi Arabia's role in the war in Yemen is particularly troubling, with international organizations reporting that the Saudis have knowingly and repeatedly bombed civilians. In addition, the Saudis have prevented food aid from entering the country, spurring widespread famine and suffering.

People deserve to know about the atrocities the Saudi Arabia regime is perpetuating. Without this knowledge, people will not be able to build for a better and more just world.

We strongly urge you to reinstate Hasan Minhaj's episode on your platform.

Signed,
