Dear President Ramaphose,

I am writing to you about my campaign to put a stop to rhino poaching in South Africa. Last year it was made legal to hunt rhinos for their horns so I wanted to write to you to change the law and protect this endangered species. I want you to reconsider changing the law because if you don’t we will lose many more rhinos and soon there will be no more left.
The appetite for rhino horn is so great that it now fetches up to $100,000/kg, making it worth more than its weight in gold. (Horns average around 1-3 kg each, depending on the species).
The number of rhinos illegally slaughtered in South Africa reached an all-time high in 2013, with an average of three rhinos killed each day, according to new figures released this month by the South African Department of Environment.

Considering there are very few black rhinos now and the population of rhinos take a long time to rejuvenate, you need to act now Rhinos only mate every 3 years. i urge you to put harsher penalties in place for hunting rhinos for their horns.
only serious concensense will deter people from hunting rhinos. You should take action on this because you are the one who can make a difference to this situation. Please reconsider your decision to legalese the rhino horn trade and make change to save this beautiful animal.
Signed yours sincerely, Thomas Gittins
