Tech giant Google is apparently struggling to honor its motto "Don't be evil."

Self-image discontentment, moral confusion, bare-faced greed and/or similar ethical challenges seem to be making Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc contradict their very inspirational and laudable commitment not to be Harvey Weinstein-like predators in the various corporate ecosystems they inhabit. (https://qz.com/284548/what-google-really-means-by-dont-be-evil/)

Consciously or unconsciously Google is apparently suppressing the free flow of information that is supposed to be its reason for being and on which healthy, fair business competition and vibrant democracy depend.

The global knowledge trading giant seems to be indulging in the same kind of infantization of adults that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and fundamentalist Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu and other religious and secular despots excel in.

A series of very frustrating conversations with Dublin-based, Google AdWords employees has convinced me that Google's focus on big profits is undermining its capacity for moral consistency and depth.

Like the apparently hollow hearted mass murderer Stephen Paddock, Google's Sergey Bryn, Larry Page, and other top decision makers seem to be putting excessive confidence in material wealth.

And we know how Paddock's story ended.

But it's not too late to help Google, help itself.

I have been reaching out to Google CEO Sundar Pichai and other Google personnel to remind them of the importance of treating ALL their customers like human beings, not the fodder of statistical "analytics".

I have also been getting guidance from the England-based Information Commissioner's office on Google's obligations under English and Irish Subject Access Request legislation.

Please sign this petition and stand with me and others who recognize Google's, Facebook's and other social media giants' capacity to be forces for both great good and expansive evil as they increasingly replace newspapers and other mainstream news and information sources.

Do your part to help Google be a good steward of Western democratic traditions - if need be, in spite of itself.

Sign because Google's leadership  seems consciously or unconsciously determined to defy their own corporate motto: don't be evil.

Because from where I stand, Google is complicit in the money minded, morally muddled mass murderer Stephen Paddock's brutal bid for immortality.

Because without our signatures and protests Google, like Harvey Weinstein, before he was exposed as a sexual predator, will continue to make a mockery of the liberal democratic values that are not only key to its success as a knowledge trader but also are pillars of Western society.

Help me bring attention to the small mindedness that seems to be retarding the positive potential of Google's "big data" focused technology.

Sign because the size of Google's global information trading footprint mandates corresponding social checks and balances, to safeguard democracy internationally.

Because without the intervention of an informed global citizenry, Google's artificial intelligence ambitions will inevitably be informed by "artificial" ethics and morality.
