Mr Mark Booth, CEO (Chief executive officer) of Food standards Australia / New Zealand

MY campaign is based around attaining clear labelling for unsustainable palm oil products. What I wish for you to do Mark, is to clearly label palm oil in packaged food products because at the moment people are unaware of the saturated fat content and consumers need to be made aware whether or not the palm oil in there food was sourced from an ecofriendly palm oil farm.
Orang-utans habitats are being destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations and have destroyed over 80%of the tropical rainforests in Indonesia, Borneo and Sumatra. At the moment there is no law passed saying that palm oil needs to be sustainably sourced and quantities managed. There are three reasons why changes need to be put in place. The first is because people are unaware of the fat content and the physical consequences. The second reason is orang-utans habitats are being destroyed because people are blindlessly supporting palm oil extortion. The third reason is because there are numerous environmental such as burning off thousands of hectares of land, waste dumping and many more.
By informing people of unsustainable palm oil products people naturally avoid these products and try to buy sustainable products instead which lower the demand for palm oil in packaged foods and therefore lower the effects of palm oil on the environment.
MR Booth, I believe you in a position of power to change or manipulate the food packaging laws to incorporate the impacts of palm and stop them.
Yours sincerely,
Sam Patterson.

Sam Patterson

How this will help

Right now as we speak, orang-utans and many other endangered species suffer and are in pain. If we can stop or even lower the demand for palm oil we can possibly save orang-utans from extinction.

It is up to MR Mark Booth to pass food packaging and food labelling laws to help the fight against palm oil.

I am sure if MR Booth has enough petitions and enough reminders that wildlife and the environment is important and will persuade him to help the fight a gain palm oil.
