Sign the Petition to

Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia

Dear Mr Turnbull

We would like to remind you about the threats to one of Australia’s great heritage sites, the Great Barrier Reef. For too long climate change and human activity have been impacting the world’s greatest ecosystem, and something needs to be done about it. Your citizens are greatly disappointed with the lack of focus on the Reef and strongly believe that if we don’t take a stand to reduce climate change, fishing and chemical pollution, we will soon to be without our amazing treasure.

It is now 2016 and nothing has been done to reduce carbon emissions in a consistent way. In fact nine years ago in 2007, the Australian government lead by the Labor Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd pledged to reduce carbon emissions in 2030 by 26%. It seems that each time that there is a change in government between the two major parties the policies for carbon emissions change. As one of the leading countries contributing to carbon emissions we need a bi-partisan approach to make this a neutral agreement to proceed towards this reduction percentage. Roughly the same size as Italy and Germany the Great Barrier Reef covers 350,000 square kilometres off the coast of Queensland. All because of our careless activity, we are killing the Reef. Causing coral bleaching, crown of thorn starfish outbreaks and not to mention the fishing and chemical pollution.

As Prime Minister of Australia, it is within your grasp to effect change.
Your unique position of power and influence gives you the credibility that is needed to make people listen

By investing in five wind power stations across Australia you be able to reduce carbon emissions by 15%. We urge you to seriously consider enabling recycling laws in residential and commercial areas. We also request additional funding to firstly investigate organic fertilizers, and secondly to undertake educational campaigns, in agricultural communities, so agriculture run off can be minimized.

Mr Turnbull, as Prime Minister of Australia, you are accountable for protecting the Great Barrier Reef from climate change. Please consider the actions that I have suggested to help save this world heritage listed phenomenon, Great Barrier Reef by reducing climate change.

Yours sincerely

Covering 350,000 square kilometres, our heritage site is projected to extinction looking towards 2050. By signing this petition to Mr Malcom Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia you will put pressure on him to make a difference by putting in place actions to reduce threats to chemical pollution, fishing and most of all climate change.
