Congress to feed more children struggling with hunger!

The Child Nutrition Reauthorization of 2015 is an important opportunity for us, as a nation, to improve, strengthen, and protect child nutrition and school meal programs to better meet the needs of kids in preschool, school-based, and out-of-school settings.

Congress should do everything in its power to give as many children as possible access to nutritious, healthy food through the range of services under review, including those focused on summer nutrition, the school lunch and breakfast program, the Child and Adults Care Food Program, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.

In the United States, 15.8 million children—that's one in five children—live in food-insecure households and can't count on getting regular meals. Congress should open up federal school nutrition programs (such as school breakfast and lunch) to more children so fewer go hungry.

For many children, a school meal is the only meal of the day they can rely on. Congress reauthorizes program standards and funding for the Child Nutrition Act every five years and has just begun the 2015 reauthorization process. This is a critical opportunity to feed more American children healthy, nutritious food. Tell Congress that we must do a better job caring for America's children, and tell it to use the 2015 Child Nutrition Reauthorization to give as many children as possible access to nutritious, healthy food.
