Gary Knell, president and CEO of the National Geographic Society

Dear Gary Knell, president and CEO of the National Geographic Society,
I am trying to stop the extinction of tigers and you, as the CEO of the National Geographic could help. I believe that more awareness needs to be spread about how endangered tigers are, so I would like you to do a pull out feature in the National Geographic of tigers and their situation. Your magazine being one of the world's largest non-profit organizations with a worldwide reach of more than 600 million people each month through its media, products and events. Will make more people aware of how endangered tigers are and get more people to help us stop the extinction of wild tigers.
Of the original nine subspecies of tigers, three have become extinct in the last 80 years; an average of one every 20 years. It has been predicted all tigers may become extinct in the wild within the next decade. Tigers keep populations of deer, wild boar, sambar and gaur in check. Without the tiger to control them these prey species would expand. This excessive population would then totally ravage its food source - vegetation. If the vegetation in the jungles was devastated, smaller animals and insects would not survive there. If the insects moved to the crops in farmlands vital food sources could be lost, impacting on human populations. This is the reason why it is crucial that we do everything in our power to help conserve the wild tiger.
If you decide to help by publishing the tiger edition of The National Geographic much more Research, support and donations could eventuate, in order to stop the diving population of tigers. The more people who are aware of the situation the more we can do to help.
We need to act quickly considering how fast the tigers are being killed off by poachers. The tiger is a top predator in the rainforest ecosystem. Without the top predator in the food chain it can do extreme damage and can cause an imbalance in the ecosystem, this will ultimately affect human life.
Yours Sincerely,
Jack Redding
