Environmental Protection Agency Director Gina McCarthy

I support the EPA's efforts to protect Bristol Bay, Alaska, from the Pebble Mine. Thank you for the review undertaken to create the Bristol Bay Watershed Assessment.

I believe this assessment justified your use of the Clean Water Act 404(c) to stop this project that I believe is not worth threatening 14,000 jobs and multiple industries that depend upon Bristol Bay's clean, healthy waters.

I encourage the EPA to move forward with a Final Determination under Sec. 404(c) of the Clean Water Act in Bristol Bay to finalize restrictions to prevent dangerous development within the Bristol Bay Watershed.

I believe that Pebble is the wrong mine in the wrong place. Your decision to use the Sec 404(c) of the Clean Water Act is justified and necessary to ensure large-scale sulfide mining will not have major adverse impacts on the nation's largest salmon fishery. Please move forward with your effort to protect one of the nation's greatest sustainable resources -- the Bristol Bay, Alaska, salmon fishery.

Signed,

Sierra Club
