How to do this

Complete these steps by September 30

  1. 1

Understand that pure bred dogs aren't any better than a mixed breed dog. In fact, despite the common belief, pure bred dogs tend to have more health problems than a 'mut'.

  2. 2

Visit a local shelter or rescue group if planning on getting a new pet. Make sure the animals are rescues. If in Los Angeles County, visit the Birdhouse Doghouse, in North Hollywood to check out all the available rescues up for adoption.

  3. 3

Show your friends and family why you shouldn't breed for profit. In Los Angeles county shelters, there are always 900 + dogs available for adoption at all times.

How this will help

If you don't know, LAAnimalServices.com has an overwhelming number of dogs needing to be adopted on death row.  We can help give back to the animals that didn't get a chance by not letting it happen again. If you can pledge to get your dog/cat fixed we can slow down these numbers...

Consider this: One female dog can have 16 puppies a year. If each of those 16 puppies reproduce (and they can as early as 6 months of age), in just 6 years, they add up to be 67,000 dogs.
