Seattle needs a cleanup of the Duwamish River that will protect the health of both the river and the communities that depend on it. Unfortunately, the cleanup plan currently promoted by Seattle and King County would fail to protect the river's most vulnerable communities -- including low-income families, immigrant and refugee communities, and subsistence and tribal fishing families.
We need a cleanup that is certain to work, and that will not have to be repeated in the future. I urge you to consider a more thorough cleanup that will:
1. Permanently remove more contaminated sediments; and
2. Control ongoing pollution, including from upriver, to ensure a cleaner and healthier river; and
3. Cover any remaining contamination with clean material to protect people's health more quickly.
Please meet with these communities most at-risk, and push the EPA to strengthen its Duwamish River plan to both ensure success and protect our investment in the cleanup. We need to select and implement a river cleanup that will ensure a clean, safe, and equitable river for all.

Many communities & tribes depend on this river, but thanks to corporate polluters like Boeing, it's in trouble. The mayor needs to meet with local advocates & pressure EPA for a stronger cleanup!
