Pledge to

Visit Australia as a tourist only after the cull has ended.

Learn how to do this...

How to do this

Complete these steps by August 18

  1. 1

If you have plans to visit Western Australia for vacation cancel them and vow not to return until the shark cull is ended.  Sharks are a tourist attraction, not a deterrent.

  2. 2

Express that you are canceling your plans due to Western Australia's Government's ongoing lies and heinous crimes against the environment, specifically sharks and other animals killed by drum lines and any other shark mitigation methods.  If available, specifically discuss the plans you cancelled or are canceling.

  3. 3

Spread the word and encourage others to follow in your steps.

Corruption boils down to money so perhaps money is the way to fight corruption as well.  With unsubstantiated claims that the presence of sharks is and will hurt Western Australia's economy the Minister of the Environment granted an exemption in the name of "National Interest" to allow the systematic and targeted slaughter of protected species of sharks (which inevitably also made any and all other animals that come into contact with the mitigation equipment potential victims as well.)  The government has provided no proof of this supposed financial threat.  The government has ignored outrage expressed by the local community and worldwide.  The government has ignored the advice of their own scientists and others world wide.  The government has ignored the fact that history has shown that culling does not reduce shark incidents.  The government violated the terms of its own exemption on multiple occasions with no suspensions (as promised) of the exemption.  The government has ignored warnings that baited hooks will actually increase risk to water users.  The government has ignored that fact that their trial run was a complete failure and ecological disaster (not a single targeted shark was caught while hundreds of non-targeted animals were damaged and destroyed.  If the government won't listen to science, reason, or it's own people, then perhaps they will listen to the loss of tourism dollars.
