Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS)

Dear Sir,

This Cause is a follow-up to our humble email request to MUIS dated 14 Jun 2014, on behalf of Sembawang Cat Lady, Mdm Rashidah. By now, there is growing public awareness with regards to her case and as a result, volunteers and individual philanthropists have begun to step forward offering a hand to the ailing lady. Well aware of her plight, Mdm Rashidah hopes to gradually resolve her outstanding HDB arrears while co-operating with volunteers from Feline Friends of Singapore to first of all, ensure a humane resolution to her 40+ cat companions in the house by re-homing them as soon as possible.

To double up the existing efforts of Feline Friends of Singapore, Mdm Rashidah hopes to hold an adoption drive at 1 of the mosque venues in Singapore in order to also reach out to as many compassionate Muslims as possible, to offer a warm and responsible home to her cats with MUIS support. Both Mdm Rashidah and Feline Friends of Singapore volunteers are willing to work closely with MUIS and relevant authorities to ensure the smooth execution of such a collaborative initiative.

We sincerely hope that Mdm Rashidah's humble request for a mosque venue for an adoption drive could be considered favourably, as goodwill to an ailing lady and her cats in need during this upcoming Ramadan month.

Signed,

Tan Pei Ying

By signing on this petition, Feline Friends of Singapore hopes to gather public concurrence/support for Mdm Rashidah's idea in order to persuade the authorities on its feasibility and/or popularity. It is not enough to simply await interested adopters to come for our drives. Mdm Rashidah and the team are willing to bring our cause closer to the public instead and we hope this is one way it could happen through proactive efforts.  Ultimately, we hope to comply and work with authorities towards a humane resolution for her cats, in the shortest time possible.
