I am petitioning for myself. I have lived in Panama for 13 years now, I applied for citizenship in 2008 and until this date I have not gotten my paper signed.

This starts after a Skype talk with my dad where he updates me on all the political debates and candidates and how my folder is still chilling at a government desk with no signature.

Not being a Panamanian Citizen is limiting my opportunities to grow professionally and academically. After doing so much for this country I think I deserve it, specially RIGHT NOW during elections - I want to VOTE!

I finally after 7 years decide to do something... I am fed to not be able to apply for scholarships, funding, even WORK because I am not Panamanian... I have done a lot for this country because it open its doors to me at a very young age and all I really want in return after 13 years is to be able to fully claim I AM PANAMANIAN.

Anyways, this is a little experiment. Ironically, ALL I need to be Panamanian is a signature from the president, so since Causes.com lets me collect signatures I want to see how many signatures I can collect before I get the one I really need.

Would you help me speed up the process or at least show the world how slow it is?

Signed,

Virginia Campo

How this will help

YOU will help ME get the attention I have been lacking and hopefully make the government speed up and sign my nationality.

YOU will help ME be able to have a say in the leadership of our country...

YOU will help ME get the attention I have been lacking and hopefully make the government speed up and sign my nationality.

YOU will help ME be able to have a say in the leadership of our country by giving me the chance to VOTE in the place I grew up.

YOU will help ME be able to apply for a Fullbright Scholarship and IFARUH loans to get into Stanford for Grad School.

YOU will help ME make a greater impact in Panama - trust me if you know me you know I already am, imagine what I can do next?

YOU will help ME save money on lawyer fees to "speed up the process", get a work permit every year and on visas every time I want to travel - YES including to Costa Rica.

YOU will help ME be able to actually represent Panama abroad like I have been for the past 13 years.

So, WOULD YOU HELP ME?
