We must be aware about the volume of junk in the ocean. More that 5 trillion remains of plastic trash is floating around the water's surface gathered together by currents in the middle of our oceans. Millions and millions of tons of garbage deposited in the seabed.. There are five huge garbage islands , where the flows makes it together, only we are able to measure floating debris, that is, the point of the iceberg.
The largest of these is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a gyre measuring an estimated 270,000 to 5.8 million sq. mi. (700,000 to 15 million sq km).
Second the "North Atlantic Gyre, originally documented in 1972. The patch is estimated to be hundreds of kilometers across in size with a density of over 200,000 pieces of debris per square kilometer. The debris zone shifts by as much as 1,600 km (990 mi) north and south seasonally, and drifts even farther south during the El Niño-Southern Oscillation, according to the NOAA.
The Indian Ocean garbage patch, discovered in 2010, is a gyre of marine litter suspended in the upper water column of the central Indian Ocean, specifically the Indian Ocean Gyre, one of the five major oceanic gyres.
The patch does not appear as a continuous debris field. As with other patches in each of the five oceanic gyres, the plastics in it break down to ever smaller particles, and to constituent polymers. As with the other patches, the field constitutes an elevated level of pelagic plastics, chemical sludge, and other debris; primarily particles that are invisible to the naked eye."
These patches are even bigger today.
The plankton that breath CO2 and expel oxygen is disappearing. The brutal level of contamination is endangering life everywhere and so fish, birds and larger marine mammals, are being extinct from our ecosystems.
We must take action compelling and imploring that a fleet of international tank vessels start cleaning our oceans urgently and now...
