Sign the Petition to

Minister of Justice (as defined in Animal Protection Act)

We hereby petition the Honourable Minister of Justice to PROHIBIT the killing of African Lions, and all other predators that have become victims of the tamed, petted and canned hunting industry.

The prohibition should be Gazetted in terms of Section 2, subsection (3) of Act 71 of 1962, The Animal Protection Act.

This is necessary as the commercial killing of lions for trophies, bones and skin, drives the canned lion hunting industry, a practice that was condemned by Parliament in March this year. The time to make this change for the better is now. The time to act has arrived.

We look forward to publication of such notice in the Government Gazette at the Minister's earliest convenience.

Signed,

Rian Geldenhuys

Prohibiting the commercial killing of lions in terms of the Animals Protection Act will end the canned hunting industry in South Africa.  The practice is already forbidden in Botswana, and will need to be forbidden in all states world wide.  It must be done.
