Subject: Support the Syrian refugees

To President Obama and Members of Congress:

I'm writing as a constituent and as a supporter of CARE. As the violence in Syria continues, I strongly urge you to keep the women, children, and families affected by the crisis at the forefront of the conversation.

Over 100,000 lives have already been lost and millions of people are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance, including more than two million refugees in neighboring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. Within Syria a further 5 million people have fled their homes. They need food, housing, clean water, clothes, blankets, and other basic needs, in addition to psycho-social support and counseling after enduring traumatic violence.

It is now more urgent than ever that governments prioritize a peaceful resolution to the conflict and facilitate the delivery of much-needed humanitarian assistance. Please keep the Syrian refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the forefront of your conversation and include provisions to provide them with aid and safety in any response to this crisis.

Signed,

CARE: Defending Dignity, Fighting Poverty

The escalating violence and political unrest in Syria have caused a sudden and increasing number of Syrians to flee their homes, even escaping to neighboring countries, stretching already limited aid resources and worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region. President Obama and members of Congress are discussing Syria right now.

Their response to this crisis MUST include aid for the women, children, and families most affected. Over 100,000 lives have already been lost in the conflict and over 7 million people have been displaced from their homes.
