Urge Theresa May to halt all deportations of LGBT asylum seekers

For years, the United Kingdom has been criticized for its intrusive and harmful LGBT asylum application and interview process. On March 28th, 2014 you addressed this growing crisis and initiated a review of the system stating that a new model should be put in place.

We applaud this responsible step, but you must do more. You cannot risk the unjust deportation of LGBT asylum seekers under a process you yourself have called into question.

We urge you to halt all deportations of LGBT asylum seekers until this review is completed and the necessary changes are made.

Signed,

Manchester Migrant Solidarity

When LGBT asylum seekers arrive in the UK, they are often fleeing persecution or death in their home countries.

In the UK, the torture continues as these asylum seekers enter an abusive system where they are subjected to invasive interviews about their sexuality.

Aderonke is just one of the hundreds who are subjected to this treatment.

On March 28th, 2014, Home Secretary Theresa May ordered a review of the asylum system so that a new model could be considered.

Now, it is essential that no LGBT person is deported through a system that even the Home Secretary has called under question.

Sign the petition to demand that Theresa May halt all deportations of LGBT asylum seekers now.
