The NSPCA should: "Take cognizance of the application of laws affecting caged lion cubs, and make representations in connection therewith to the appropriate authority", as Section 3(e) of the Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1993 [No. 169 of 1993] instructs. We, the petitioners, ask that the Board of NSPCA updates us regularly on their progress in ending the caging of lion cubs, who roam free for only a few minutes of their whole lives, only to be shot by a pseudo-hunter.

Signed,

Rian Geldenhuys

The NSPCA needs to be reminded of their duty as stated in the act that created it.  It should end all cruelty to animals, and this case - caging a wild animal for its entire life, releasing it only to be shot minutes later by a pseudo-hunter that knows nothing about fair chase, in the ultimate betrayal of trust - is the worst cruelty imaginable.  The NSPCA has a duty to end it.
