The Citizens of Century City, Cape Town and Cape Nature

Please send a message to Cape Nature that you are against the culling or relocation of the remaining 7 mongooses at Intaka Island. A more sustainable environmental policy would be freezing future development of this sensitive wetland and the resulting habitat loss for endemic mongooses, fish, frogs and other indigenous flora and fauna.

Signed,

Thomas Mulcaire

Intaka Island and its major trustee, the Century City Property Owners Association, have requested a meeting with Cape Nature on 17 February 2014 seeking permission to cull the remaining water mongoose population. Your intervention could mean a stay of execution for the mongooses who formed a vital part of an ecology which thrived for millenia before the property developers began destroying this unique wetland fynbos habitat in 1996.
