Sign the Petition to

Prime Minister Harper on his Tough on Crime agenda, Peter MacKay Minister of Justice and our MP's.

Canadians are sick and tired of hearing about the slap on the writ sentences handed out to individuals, people or businesses like puppy mills who intentionally harm, abuse, poaching and neglect innocent animals including livestock such as horses, chickens, ducks, cows, pigs etc. Please change the criminal code to increase jail times to a minimum of 10 years, increase fines that should be donated to animal rescues or educational programs for children and youth. Order payment to cover any and all vet costs including those incurred by the SPCA. Automatic lifetime ban on serious cases deemed by the authorities. Community service automatic as well.

Signed,

Sharna Sugarman

How this will help

Using our democratic process and being the voice for the voiceless we must push the federal government to change the archaic laws that do nothing to protect animals from harm, abuse and neglect...

Using our democratic process and being the voice for the voiceless we must push the federal government to change the archaic laws that do nothing to protect animals from harm, abuse and neglect this must include stronger sentences and fines plus automatic lifetime bans.

This issue strikes a deep and profound cord in all of us and our elected politicians have yet to stand firm on this vital issue. Too many innocent animals are abused, harmed and starved every single day and with increased powers for judges things could change for the better.

Research has proven that people who harm animals have an increase risk of turning their criminal and sadistic behaviours onto children and people.
