Edwin Lee, San Francisco Mayor

We urge you to cut back on watering San Francisco's public parks and land by 50%, which includes six public golf courses. During times of extreme challenges, we need to find creative solutions in order to protect our water supply. Please commit to stop wasting water when we need it for food production and basic survival.

Signed,

Rocky Beach

California is currently facing a historic drought.  All California residents are being asked to reduce water consumption by 20%.  What is the city of San Francisco doing to reduce our use of water?  We need to find creative and tough solutions in order to protect our water supply until the reservoirs are full again.

As one of the greenest cities in the country, San Francisco uses an incredible amount of water to keep public lands dark green.  When you compare San Francisco's land to the grass growing in rest of the state during this drought, you'll see that the parched yellow land is a stark contrast to our healthy green parks and six city golf courses.  When you consider that 17% of San Francisco's land is parks and open space, we can reduce our city's use of water by cutting back on park irrigation that comes from the Hetch Hetchy.  With many of the city's recycled water projects years from being finished, we need to take action now during this drought.

Please sign the petition urging Mayor Lee to commit to cutting back on water.
