The Australian Government

Please reconsider your controversial new shark-mitigation program, which utilizes drum lines - baited hooks attached to floatation devices for the purpose of catching and killing sharks larger than 9 feet - in an attempt to control shark attacks. Not only does this method threaten the conservation of endangered sharks, but it also poses a deadly threat to other marine life, including dolphins, turtles and countless other species, endangered and otherwise. Instead, please redirect your resources toward ongoing research and support of non-lethal, non-threatening, effective methods to deter sharks from beaches and tourists, including visual, electrical and vibrational technologies. By doing so you can join the world in shark conservationism and become a part of the bigger picture of living in harmony with our beautiful planet.

Signed,

Angela Ponder

How this will help

By signing this petition we can show the Australian government that alternate technologies are available, effective and a far superior solution to destroying sharks and other endangered species.  Our numbers will bring awareness that marine life off the coast of Australia isn't just theirs - it belongs to all of us, worldwide.  By creating one voice for those who have no voices, we will not only set a precident for marine life, but for all of nature, endangered and otherwise.
