JUSTICE FOR RYKER AND PHYLO, TWO DOGS SHOT AND LEFT ALONE IN THE WOODS TO SUFFER AND DIE
We the undersigned respectfully request that Crown Counsel recommend to the judge the maximum sentence available under the law, and if someone is found guilty of the crime of animal cruelty in the shootings of Ryker and Phylo, the honourable sentencing Judge in the Provincial Court of British Columbia apply the maximum sentence available for this offence.
We also request that, if someone is found guilty, the court prohibit the person(s) from owning or having custody or control of an animal for the rest of his or her lifetime.
Animal cruelty is a CRIME according to the Criminal Code of Canada. This petition is meant to draw attention to the fact that we want the courts to take animal cruelty seriously. Convicted animal abusers rarely receive anything near the maximum penalty. In addition to the harm caused to animals, animal abuse is often taking place in conjunction with other criminality, including violence toward humans. Animal abusers are a threat to society, and sentences for animal abuse should reflect this reality. Please sign and share this petition to help ensure that, if someone is found guilty of this brutal crime on Ryker and Phylo, they will not walk away with a simple slap on the wrist.
