Sign the Petition to To the CITES Secretariat & the 178 Member Parties

The South African Government claims it has done everything in its absolute power to get Rhino poaching under control. By now it has been proven that the Rhino Horn Treatment is an excellent solution to prevent Rhinos from being poached. The Rhino only needs to get sedated once every 4 years, which is less harmful for the animal than dehorning.
Dehorning needs to be done every 12 months - this is an intrusive procedure and the more frequently the rhinos are immobilised, the greater the risk. Plus there are numerous cases where dehorning has proved insufficient to prevent rhinos from falling victim to poachers.

The Rhino Horn Treatment would give WILD Rhinos time - time that is needed to raise more awareness in Asia that Rhino horn has NO MEDICINAL value whatsoever.
And yet South Africa is calling to lift the ban on Rhino horn, supposedly to try to get poaching under control. We have seen what the once-off sales, approved by CITES in 1999 and 2008, is doing for the Elephants. Since then the Elephant poaching is completely out of control and every 15 minutes an Elephant dies for its ivory. The EIA (Environmental Investigation Agency) has called the once-off sales the LETHAL EXPERIMENT.

This is why WE, the people of the WORLD, call on the CITES secretariat and the 178 member parties to SAY NO to the South African proposal to lift the ban on Rhino horn, and urge them to use the Rhino Horn Treatment instead. CITES don’t fail to protect the Rhinos like you failed the Elephants. The whole world is watching.

Please take the time to watch the videos, they will explain a lot. And have a look at the website that I shared with you.
