With due respect for all people's personal belief systems, I declare that it is high time we remove the crucifix from all altars and places of worship where it is placed as a focus point of attention. It is meant to symbolize a compassionate act of Unconditional Love, but what is seen is a HUman body, stripped nearly naked, bloody and hanging in painful suffering. Is this really necessary?
I petition that the entire world recognizes the horror of the crucifix and that it be removed and replaced with a positive and life-affirming alternative that is a universal symbol easily recognized by all: The Star of Spirit. This Star is a higher version of the Star of David because it is open-ended. It is non-denominational and thus universal for all spiritual beliefs and beyond the gender often given to the symbols Sun and Moon. Most importantly, it is not personified and can thus represent Divine Source and the Spirit of LOVE in all its wonderful facets within every single HUman for all time.
With appreciation for great works of art involving the crucifix - be they in the form of a sculpture, statue or painting - my suggestion is that these be placed in museums, galleries and the like and kept for posterity. There these artworks may still be viewed by those that seek them, while they are kept away from spiritual places of worship.

It is not only my belief but my deep knowing that any focus of attention upon suffering upholds the suffering. The crucifix is the most widely spread "accepted" symbol of HUman suffering. As soon as HUmanity no longer is inundated with it everywhere, our focus of attention will be upon its replacement, the beautiful Star of Spirit. And HUmanity will then naturally develop that which it represents: Unconditional Love, Light, Peace and Joy in Oneness.
